This is the FINAL CALL to sign up for our upcoming Beijing ESG Research Study Tour (京津冀深度研學之旅)! With just 10 spaces left before the quota is up, now is the perfect moment to grab the chance. The tour is scheduled from May 27 to 31, 2026, which is financially sponsored by China Resources Holdings Limited’s Charity Unit (Section 88 of the IRO License). A licensed travel agency appointed by China Resources Holdings Limited will be responsible for all travel and logistical arrangements throughout the tour. Two HSUHK full-time staff will attend the tour and an ESG Centre representative will share a presentation on “ESG integration on investment” on location. Once again, all you have to pay is a deposit of HKD 1,000 (non-refundable) to secure your place. China Resources Holdings will pay for the rest of the cost for this 4-night 5-day trip to Beijing.

Requirements:
– Students should have a minimum cGPA of 2.7
– Students must possess a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (回鄉證) or an Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao (通行證). International passport holder students are not qualified for the tour this time
– Year 2-4 students are preferred
Deposit Arrangement:
– Upon successful selection, each student is required to pay a non‑refundable deposit of HKD 1,000 to secure their place
– Failure to complete the payment by the specified deadline will result in the offer being withdrawn
Quota:
– A total of 40 places is allocated to HSUHK (38 students and 2 staff members who will accompany the group)

Prof. Louis Cheng is appointed as an Editorial Board Member of Regional International Accounting Research Forum in Hong Kong (RIARF-HK), which to be held on Dec 19, 2026 at City University of Hong Kong. For details of the Forum, please see the information below.

The Regional International Accounting Research Forum invites high-quality country- or region-specific accounting research for presentation and potential publication in the Journal of International Accounting Research (JIAR). The forum is part of a JIAR initiative aimed at accelerating research that provides deep, contextual insights into individual countries or regions, especially those underrepresented in international accounting literature. This forum focuses on Hong Kong, China.

Submission Topics

The Forum encourages research addressing, but not limited to:

– Financial and managerial accounting practices in Hong Kong –
– Auditing and corporate governance in Hong Kong
– IFRS adaption in Hong Kong
– Taxation issues in Hong Kong
– ESG reporting in Hong Kong

The Forum welcomes submissions employing a wide range of research methodologies, including theoretical, archival, experimental, case-based, survey, and interview approaches. Replication studies pertaining to Hong Kong will also be considered, provided they demonstrate methodological rigor and contribute novel insights to the field of international accounting research.

Submission Guidelines 

– Deadline: September 30, 2026
– Submission Format: Well-developed full working papers in WORD or PDF formats
– Review Process: All submissions will undergo a peer review
– Language: Submissions must be in English
– Initial Submission: Submit your paper to: acriarfhk@cityu.edu.hk
– Journal Submission: All, or a selected subset, of the papers presented at the conference will be invited for formal submission to JIAR through Editorial Manager® after addressing the feedback from the conference. Please note that American Accounting Association (AAA) and its International Accounting Section (IAS) members will receive a discount on journal submission fees. The Forum highly encourages you to join the AAA membership and IAS sectional membership through Membership before submitting to JIAR.- The final acceptance of papers to JIAR depends on the regular journal review process. However, papers selected for the conferences will have the opportunity to receive firsthand comments from Editors during the conference, which increases their chances of publication.

Announcing Three Honorary Research Appointments

In Feb 2026, CESG established an Industry Collaborative Initiative (ICI) to deepen the society impacts of the Centre. Consequently, CESG announce honorary research appointments of three distinguished industry leaders in Mar 2026 to explore impactful projects under ICI. They are Dr. George Lam as Honorary Senior Research Fellow, Dr. Michael Wu and Mr. Hauman Yeung as Honorary Research Fellows.

Dr. George Lam, BBS, JP, is appointed as Honorary Senior Research Fellow until August 31 2028. Dr. Lam is passionate about fintech and business sustainability. After he stepped down as Chairman of Hong Kong Cyberport, he continues to take lead in the AI area by serving as the President of InvestAI Foundation. For sustainability, he contributes his time to support ESG and green initiatives for the Asia region. Currently, he is the Chair of United Nations ESCAP Sustainable Business Network Finance Task Force.

In addition, Dr. Lam is a Hong Kong accounting advisory expert of the PRC Ministry of Finance, a member of the Consultative Committee on Guangdong-Hong Kong Co-operation (Guangzhou Nansha), Chairman of the Technology and Innovation Committee of the Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Michael Wu is currently the Chairman of Creative Asset Management. Dr. Wu was the Chief Executive Officer of China Chengtong Asset Management (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. It serves as the core offshore investment, financing, and capital operation platform for China Chengtong Holdings Group (中國誠通), with a total investment scale exceeding CN¥660 billion, and holding over CN¥70 billion in listed company equity and recorded total assets of approximately CN¥578.5 billion (2023). We welcome Dr. Wu to support our Centre as an Honorary Research Fellow. He is a long-term and loyal supporter for the Centre through donations and serving as a member of the Advisory Board. In addition to his business expertise in asset management and corporate restructuring, Dr. Wu is an advocate for corporate governance. He will take lead to explore impactful research on governance-related issues at the Centre. We are excited for his forthcoming contribution to the Centre and to HSUHK. Mr. Hauman Yeung is a Director of Corporate Advisory, Ascent Partners. He is appointed as an Honorary Research Fellow. Hauman is a long-term veteran in providing ecological and climate change solutions for business. He participated in the ecological restoration project of the Loess Plateau, which was supported by the World Bank. From 1996 to 1997, Mr. Yeung served as a special consultant and member of the Asia expert team for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), contributing to the development of the carbon emissions calculation framework and carbon credit trading system that supported the Kyoto Protocol.

In addition to being an expert in ESG reporting for listed firms, he is currently a consultant for de-desertification control.

Prof. Louis Cheng Advocates Innovation and Big Data in Investor Relations

In the featured interview, Prof. Louis Cheng, Dr S H Ho Professor of Banking and Finance, Associate Dean (Research) of School of Business at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, and Panel Judge Chairman of HKIRA 12th Investor Relations Awards 2026, remarked that since AI and innovation are global topics of discussion, the investor relations IR industry should also embrace innovation to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve outcomes. Prof. Cheng noted that social media platforms provide lots of information, some of which may be inaccurate. He suggested that IR professionals should consider using big data analytics to verify the accuracy of such information and enhance IR functions.

During the visit, Prof. Louis Cheng delivered an insightful presentation on Fintech and ESG Integration, which was very well-received by the students.
